Parents Empowered campaign embraces alcohol free school year for youth in Washington County ST. GEORGE, Utah - + Video – Government leaders, law enforcement, schools and health officials signed a proclamation to promote an alcohol free school year in Washington County. The proclamation was read by Mayor Pike during a press conference hosted during the kickoff of the Parents Empowered Campaign hosted by the Southwest Prevention Coalition Thursday. The Parents Empowered Campaign is a statewide effort to prevent underage drinking. Research shows that youth are less likely to drink or use drinks when parents talk about the dangers and create healthy boundaries. The campaign also encourages families to eat meals together at least three times a week in order to have that time to share those conversations.
