New website launched to help Latino parents engage with kids about underage drinking

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News)  – A new website launched today to hopefully help the Latino community and Latino parents find ways and resources to talk to their children about the dangers of underage drinking.

Launched on Cinco de Mayo, the Spanish version of Parents Empowered launched this morning as it’s first of it’s kind digital platform.  As a portal full of information, it was created in a culture-specific way to empower parents to teach and learn about the dangers of underage drinking.

“Every one of these kids Latino or none Latinos are gonna face the issue of the choice to drink underage,” said Steve Wright with Parents Empowered.

Parents Empowered says they have done several community events and engaged with Latino leaders to drive the message to the Latino community about the dangers of underage drinking but they always felt like something was missing.
